What kind of treatment is there for dog food allergies?

The first time you see your pet with any signs of skin problems, chewing grass, vomiting, or hot spots, think about what has changed. Have you change food? Have they eaten something they shouldn’t have?

As responsible pet owners, we should be watching for any change in our pet’s habits and check for any type of allergic reaction. The sooner dog food allergies are found; the faster treatment can begin and get the pet back to health and well-being.

There may be some type of medication for the problem skin areas while the dog food allergies are being treated that the veterinarian will prescribe. To help the itching, your vet may prescribe some medication to help with the hot spot, or possibly a medicated shampoo. In the long run, only with time and a well balanced diet is the best way to overcome dog food allergies.
