Atopy Dogs Allergies - Causes
What are the causes of atopy dogs allergies?
The main cause of atopy dogs allergies is fleas. There can be other allergens that can cause atopy dogs allergies. Atopy dogs allergies are mostly caused by environmental allergens that cause the dog to begin itching.
Other causes can be airborne, chemical, and most common products found in the home. Flea collars can also cause atopy dogs allergies. In some cases, what may begin with something as mild as a flea bite can lead to atopic dermatitis (atopy dogs allergies). The dog begins itching and biting areas, these areas become raw, red and may even bleed during severe scratching. This can lead to more itching and biting, which can develop into even more severe atopic dermatitis problems.
Caustic chemicals, and most common products found in the home, and even pet bedding can be an irritant that can lead to atopy dogs allergies. There are parasites than can also lead to the dog’s scratching problems, which cause the immune system to go hyperactive.
Once the dog begins scratching, this can lead to a hypersensitivity to the touch, and most materials. Some animals may be allergic to fabrics like wool; this may cause atopy dogs allergies if the pet’s immune system is not in perfect balance.
A brush with poison ivy can cause atopy dogs allergies to make your pet begin scratching, topical antibiotics, flea shampoos, plastic, and plant pollen can all cause atopy dogs allergies. Many of the types of dog allergies can eventually lead to atopy dogs allergies. Fleas are the main cause of atopy dogs allergies.
It is up to the pet owner to be vigilant in noticing the animals itching, checking the coat, checking the skin, and observing any changes, red spots, hair loss, or anything that is out of the ordinary.
If the pet is seen scratching, or biting, it is time to find out why. It could be something simple, or it could be atopy dogs allergies, a secondary yeast infection, or something that the animal has come in contact with in the environment.
Some breeds have a predisposition to atopy dogs allergies. If you own one of those breeds, you must be even more aware of the dog’s environment and any scratching they may be doing.
We all want what’s best for the comfort and well-being of our pets. Only by observation can this be accomplished, along with aggressive treatment.
